Everyday life in ancient Rome

by Lionel Casson (1998)

About this book

In Everyday Life in Ancient Rome, Lionel Casson offers a lively introduction to the society of the age. Instead of following the standard procedure of social history, he presents a series of vignettes focusing on the "ways of life" of various members of that society, from the slave to the emperor.

Yves Blanchard

! » (Leonardo da Vinci)

Rhys Isaac

In this Pulitzer Prize-winning book, Rhys Isaac describes and analyzes the dramatic confrontations-primarily religious and political-that transformed Virginia in the second half of the eighteenth century. Making use of the observational techniques of the cultural anthropologist, Isaac vividly recreates and painstakingly dissects a society in the turmoil of profound inner change.
