General and synthetic methods

About this book

Specialist Periodical Reports provide systematic and detailed review coverage of progress in the major areas of chemical research. Written by experts in their specialist fields the series creates a unique service for the active research chemist, supplying regular critical in-depth accounts of progress in particular areas of chemistry. For over 80 years the Royal Society of Chemistry and its predecessor, the Chemical Society, have been publishing reports charting developments in chemistry, which originally took the form of Annual Reports. However, by 1967 the whole spectrum of chemistry could no longer be contained within one volume and the series Specialist Periodical Reports was born. The Annual Reports themselves still existed but were divided into two, and subsequently three, volumes covering Inorganic, Organic and Physical Chemistry. For more general coverage of the highlights in chemistry they remain a 'must'. Since that time the SPR series has altered according to the fluctuating degree of activity in various fields of chemistry. Some titles have remained unchanged, while others have altered their emphasis along with their titles; some have been combined under a new name whereas others have had to be discontinued. The current list of Specialist Periodical Reports can be seen on the inside flap of this volume.

Cover of Transition metals in the synthesis of complex organic molecules

Transition metals in the synthesis of complex organic molecules

Louis S. Hegedus

"The third edition of Transition Metals in the Synthesis of Complex Organic Molecules is a comprehensive revision and significant expansion of the second edition, but the clear and systematic approach to the formation, manipulation, and reactivity of organometallic complexes has been maintained. The book is ideal for advanced undergraduate and graduate students as well as all practicing synthetic organic chemists. It is written for organic chemists and offers an easy entry into the field of organo-transition metal chemistry without requiring background knowledge in inorganic chemistry."--Jacket.

Cover of Solid-phase organic synthesis

Solid-phase organic synthesis

Patrick H. Toy, Yulin Lam

"This book offers insight into how to design and carry out solid-phase organic synthesis (SPOS), with an emphasis on the fundamentals for synthesizing organic molecules. Highlighting key developments and applications, bioimaging probes and sensors, asymmetric synthesis, dendritic molecules, diversity oriented-synthesis, library design and combinatorial chemistry. The book presents a thorough overview of basic concepts of the field of SPOS, and is targeted at researchers (professionals, students, and faculty) in organic and medicinal chemistry, and anyone involved in synthetic organic chemistry, such as pharmaceuticals, crop science, chemical manufacturing"--

Cover of Tartaric and Malic Acids in Synthesis

Tartaric and Malic Acids in Synthesis

Jacek Gawroński and Krystyna Gawrońska

Tartaric and Malic Acids in Synthesis provides chemists with a concise yet comprehensive, review of the chemical properties and synthetic applications of derivatives of tartaric and malic acids. Intended as a source of information and inspiration, it contains a gold mine of ideas on the use of tartaric and malic acids in synthesis not only as chiral building blocks, but as chiral ligands, auxiliaries, and resolving agents as well. Throughout, the primary focus is on four-carbon building blocks derived from tartaric and malic acids and their synthetically useful reactions. Tartaric and Malic Acids in Synthesis is a valuable working resource for chemists involved in the design of enantioselective syntheses. It is also an excellent supplementary text for graduate students of synthetic organic chemistry and natural products chemistry.

Cover of Reaction mechanisms of inorganic and organometallic systems

Reaction mechanisms of inorganic and organometallic systems

Robert B. Jordan

Ideal for one semester courses at the advanced undergraduate or graduate level, the second edition of Reaction Mechanisms of Inorganic and Organometallic Systems helps students develop both an appreciation of and skepticism about mechanistic studies. This new edition simplifies the first two chapters, which concentrate on the real world of collecting and interpreting kinetic data, to make them easily understandable to students with minimal exposure to the basics of kinetics.
