Human Interface and the Management of Information. Information and Interaction Design

by Sakae Yamamoto (2013)

About this book

The three-volume set LNCS 8016, 8017, and 8018 constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 15th International Conference on Human-Computer Interaction, HCII 2013, held in Las Vegas, NV, USA in July 2013. The total of 1666 papers and 303 posters presented at the HCII 2013 conferences was carefully reviewed and selected from 5210 submissions. These papers address the latest research and development efforts and highlight the human aspects of design and use of computing systems. The papers accepted for presentation thoroughly cover the entire field of human-computer Interaction, addressing major advances in knowledge and effective use of computers in a variety of application areas. This volume contains papers in the thematic area of human interface and the management of Information, addressing the following major topics: interacting with information, information searching, browsing and structuring, design and development methods and tools for interactive systems and services, personalized information and interaction, cognitive and emotional aspects of interacting with information.

Nonclassical Thermoelastic Problems in Nonlinear Dynamics of Shells

Jan Awrejcewicz, Vadim A. Krys'ko

This monograph, addressing researchers as well as engineers, is devoted to nonclassical thermoelastic modelling of the nonlinear dynamics of shells. Differential equations of different dimensionality and different type have to be combined and nonlinearities of different geometrical, physical or elasto-plastic categories are addressed. Special emphasis is given to the Bubnov--Galerkin method. It can be applied to many problems in the theory of plates and shells, even those with very complex geometries, holes and various boundary conditions. The authors made every effort to keep the text intelligible for both practitioners and graduate students, although they offer a rigorous treatment of both purely mathematical and numerical approaches presented so that the reader can understand, analyse and track the nonlinear dynamics of spatial systems (shells) with thermomechanical behaviours.

Cover of Hybrid systems IV

Hybrid systems IV

Panos Antsaklis ... [et al.], eds

This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed post-conference documentation of the Fourth International Conference on Hybrid Systems held in Ithaca, NY, USA, in October 1996. The volume presents 19 carefully revised full papers selected from numerous submissions. Hybrid systems research focuses on modeling, design, and validation of interacting systems (plants) and computer programs (control automata). This volume is devoted to hybrid systems models, formal verification, computer simulation, goal reachability, algorithms for extracting hybrid control programs, and application models for avionics, highway traffic control, and air traffic control.

Communication Systems: The State of the Art captures the depth and breadth of the field of communication systems: -Architectures and Protocols for Distributed Systems; -Network and Internetwork Architectures; -Performance of Communication Systems; -Internet Applications Engineering; -Management of Networks and Distributed Systems; -Smart Networks; -Wireless Communications; -Communication Systems for Developing Countries; -Photonic Networking; -Communication Systems in Electronic Commerce. This volume's scope and authority present a rare opportunity for people in many different fields to gain a practical understanding of where the leading edge in communication systems lies today-and where it will be tomorrow.

Cover of Programming in Prolog

Programming in Prolog

William F. Clocksin, Christopher S. Mellish

Since the first edition of this book in 1981, Prolog has continued to attract an unexpectedly great deal of interest in the computer science community and has turned out to be a basis for an important new family of programming languages and systems for Artificial Intelligence. In the preceding three editions, the authors have steadily added new material, improved the presentation, and corrected various minor errors to provide a textbook as well as a reference work for everyone who wants to study and use Prolog as a practical programming language. The authors concentrate on teaching "core" Prolog. All examples conform to this standard and will run on the most widely-used Prolog implementations some of which are listed in the appendices with indications as to how they diverge from the standard.
