Introduction to the Mori Program

by Kenji Matsuki (2002)

About this book

The purpose of this book is to give a comprehensible account of what is called Mori's Program, that is an approach to the following problem: classify all the projective varieties X /in P^n over C up to isomorphism. Mori's Program is a fusion of the so-called Minimal Model Program and the IItaka Program toward the biregular and/or birational classification of higher dimensional algebraic varieties. The author presents this theory in an easy and understandable way with lots of background motivation. Prerequisites are those covered in Hartshorne's book "Algebraic Geometry." It is the first book in this extremely important and active area of research and will become a key resource for graduate students wanting to get into the area.

Applied algebraic dynamics

Vladimir Anashin and Andrei Khrennikov

This monograph presents recent developments of the theory of algebraic dynamical systems and their applications to computer sciences, cryptography, cognitive sciences, psychology, image analysis, and numerical simulations. The most important mathematical results presented in this book are in the fields of ergodicity, p-adic numbers, and noncommutative groups. For students and researchers working on the theory of dynamical systems, algebra, number theory, measure theory, computer sciences, cryptography, and image analysis.

David A. Sousa

Highly respected author and researcher David A. Sousa explains the latest neuroscientific findings in practical, understandable terms and discusses the impact this information has for teaching mathematics at all grade levels. This book covers the cognitive mechanisms for learning mathematics, the environmental and developmental factors that contribute to mathematics difficulties, and ways to differientiate mathematics instruction. -- BACK COVER.
